Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture, recognizing the contributions of those from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Initially launched as a week-long celebration in 1968, it expanded to a month in 1988. The celebration spans from September 15th – October 15th coinciding with the independence anniversaries for many Central American countries.
Join us at PHL for an exciting lineup of events as we explore all the facets of Hispanic heritage and culture.
Starting on September 15th you can find books by Hispanic and Latino authors at the following locations:

- Hudson News (D/E, E, and F)
Come for a show and leave with new dance moves!
- On September 19th between Terminals B and C at 11 a.m. Enjoy a lively performance of Panama folklore dancing by Ritmos Y Danzas
- October 11th in Terminal E at 2 pm take a dance lesson with Eddie Alba, pro dancer and founder of Albasario Dance Company.
We can’t celebrate the culture without indulging in the FOOD we all know and love.
- October 3rd at 11 am between Terminal B and C Hector Nunez with Wooder Ice hosts Heritage Talks: Food from Around the World,” bringing in a team of chefs from local Philadelphia restaurants. The event will conclude with food sampling provided by OTG. Come out to join:

- Jennifer Zavala, owner of Juana Tamale
- October 9th at 11 am in Terminal E indulge in a sweet treat from El Merkury, a Central American street food restaurant, sampling churro.
There’s something for the kids too!
- On Monday, September 30th at noon and Tuesday, October 15th at 2 pm families can celebrate with arts and crafts at the Art Cart Pop-Ups.
